Hi, we’re Eve and John — the creative team behind Build My Mini.
Eve is the designer and customer care lead, and John focuses on design development and strategic planning. Together, we are the heart behind PickScene, Build My Mini, and our other creative projects — all based in Toronto.
Design has always been part of who we are. But life has taught us that creativity isn’t just about making beautiful things — it’s also about healing, connecting, and caring.
Why We Started Build My Mini?
Build My Mini was born from a moment in life when everything felt too big and too overwhelming. During a difficult battle with depression, I found myself constantly searching for something — anything — that could quiet my anxious mind and offer a sense of peace.
One day, I stumbled upon the world of miniatures. A tiny chair. A miniature bakery counter. A perfectly folded paper bag no bigger than my fingertip.
Suddenly, these small creations became my escape.
With every cut, fold, and glue, my mind found a new focus — one that was calming, joyful, and beautifully creative. I wasn’t just crafting; I was slowly rebuilding myself, piece by piece, just like these miniature scenes.
From Healing Hobby to Creative Business
What started as personal therapy turned into a passion for design. I began creating my own printable miniature templates, combining my love for design, storytelling, and paper crafting. Each tiny shop, each miniature food item, each adorable piece of furniture is a reflection of my love for small things that bring big joy.
Today, our designs are created with that same intention:
