If you’re working with digital craft templates, printable dollhouse minis, or book nook elements, using PNG files with Cricut’s Print Then Cut feature is a fast way to get clean, precise cuts.
Follow this simple guide to upload your PNG images, adjust the sizing, and prepare your project for cutting!
Open Cricut Design Space and start a new project.
Click the Upload button on the left sidebar menu.
Select your PNG file from your computer.
Click Preview Single Layer to double-check the cut lines and transparency.
Use the Erase Tool to remove any background or extra parts of the image that you do not want the Cricut machine to cut.
Inspect the cut outline carefully. When everything looks good, click Apply and Continue.
Choose Flat Graphic. This option sets up the file for printing and cutting together.
Add a name for your file and assign it to a collection to keep your library organized.
Click Upload to add the image to your canvas.
When PNG files are first added to Cricut Design Space, they may appear oversized on the canvas:
Use the right-hand panel to select your image layer.
Click Auto-resize image to scale it down properly.
Repeat for all PNG files: If your project has multiple files, upload each one following the same steps. You can rescale images individually or select multiple layers to resize them together.
Use the Eye Icon next to each layer on the right menu to hide or show specific elements as needed.
Select the print layers you want to process and click Make.
Follow the prompts to Send to Printer. (If you have already printed your sheets beforehand, simply click "I've already printed" to skip straight to the cutting stage).
Place your printed paper sheet onto your sticky Cricut cutting mat.
Load the mat into your cutting machine.
Press start and let your Cricut cut out your design!
💡 Pro-Tip: If your project involves multiple layers, process them one by one since Print Then Cut commands need to be run together per sheet.
